Though there were a lot of new sports cars that hit the market in 2015 (many of them very, very exciting), none of them were quite as interesting as the next iteration of the legendary Chevrolet Corvette.
Once regarded as the ultimate in American muscle, the Corvette has effortlessly transitioned into a real-world American contender to go up against all of the “Italians” – the Ferraris and Lamborghinis of the world. And while you’re likely to never pay the skyhigh price tag that the Italians command (most of the time you could even by two Corvettes for the price of one Italian), you’re going to get all of the power, all of the performance, and almost all of the aggressively modern styling when you go with this new Corvette.
Ever since the Corvette was redesigned around 2008, Chevy has made a concerted effort to really try to create the US version of a Ferrari or a Lamborghini without sacrificing the distinctly American pedigree that this car has always carried throughout its lifetime.
This newest version of the Corvette is very aggressive up front while still remaining somewhat blocky in the back and, all of which creates a very unique and distinct profile that you simply aren’t going to find anywhere else. A lot like the old school Stingray upfront, this has clean lines and aggressive angles that will catch the eye of absolutely anyone out on the open road.
Combine all of that with a 455 hp V-8 (standard) that still gets almost 30 miles to the gallon, and you’re looking at a feat of modern engineering that most people didn’t expect out of in American automobile manufacturer.
The new 2015 Chevy Corvette is very, very special.
The biggest knock against the new Corvette is the same one that it’s always had against it – a lot of people consider the Corvette to be overpriced and not worth the premium tag that Chevy asks for it.
That is becoming harder and harder to justify with all of the major advances and upgrades that Chevy engineers have been shoehorning into new Corvettes almost every single year, but the perception still exists.
What makes the Chevrolet Corvette so exciting?
There really isn’t anything like sliding behind the wheel of a cherry red new Corvette and tearing off on the open road. Acceleration and top speed (not to mention handling and braking) on the new Corvette is absolutely impeccable, and you aren’t ever going to forget your first time behind the wheel.
